Turmeric is everywhere these days, but do you really know how to use it.

There is no denying that turmeric has some pretty amazing health benefits. It is a potent anti-oxidant, helps to reduce inflammation and assists with nagging joint pain. It can also assist with weight management, brain disease and help reduce the risk of cancer.

The trick is that you need to ensure that you are having enough of it to ensure you are getting the benefits. Here are some ideas to help you incorporate it into your diet regularly at home and a few recipes using PFE Turmeric Paste to help you on your way.

TIP: It’s a good idea to add some black pepper to your recipes as it enhances the uptake of curcumin into your body.

Turmeric Paste

Pure Food Essentials has an easy-to-use Turmeric Paste that you can spoon directly from the jar into soups, stews, stir-fries and curries. We also have a dedicated recipe page with some pretty delicious options that have been developed with your health in mind.

1.  Turmeric and Basil Pesto

We all love a good Pesto and this one is no exception. It works well with crudites, pizza, meat and fried rice recipes. My favourite is to spread it on a slice of fresh, crusty sourdough or this Almond & Chia Bread by Sunshine Coast Cook, Tania Hubbard.

2.  Golden Hummus

This is a quick no fuss turmeric hummus that you can whip up at the last minute or keep it stored in your refrigerator for one or two days. A great working lunch or afternoon snack with a selection of raw veges, flat bread or healthy sourdough.

3.  Haldi Seared Chicken

This marinade is delicious with chicken and also works well with pork and fish. The longer you marinate it the better the flavour of course. A minimum of two hours is recommended but prepping it the night before and storing it in the fridge will give your chosen meat the best flavour.

4.  Sweet Potato, Coconut and Turmeric Soup

Alternate this with pumpkin soup to help keep the dinner menu interesting. If you prefer a vegan option you can replace the butter with a good quality oil of your choice. You might like to consider macadamia, coconut or avocado oil.

5.  Turmeric Caramel Sauce with Crispy Pork Belly

A gluten-free glaze that is heavenly! It can also be used with seared chicken or pan-fried tofu. Garnishing with sesame seeds, finely sliced red pepper and spring onions gives it its spectacular appearance.

Some Turmeric Breakfast Ideas

  1. Sprinkle some organic turmeric powder into your favourite oil before frying eggs
  2. Add a teaspoon of Turmeric Paste into your breakfast smoothie
  3. Add half a teaspoon of turmeric paste into your scrambled eggs or omlette.
