Organic Ground Cardamom

One of the healthiest and most aromatic spices, green cardamom is from the same family of plants as ginger and turmeric.  Known as the ‘Queen of spices’, true cardamom has a sweet, eucalyptus aroma and a strong camphor-like taste, but don’t let that put you off. When it infuses into food and drinks, the cardamom flavour is heavenly! Look for the greenest whole cardamom pods as they are the most prized. When the seeds inside the pod are ground to a powder, they have an intense, spicy-sweet flavour.

Ground cardamom and cardamom pods are used traditionally in Asian countries as a natural flavouring for sweets, baked goods and curries. In the Middle East, it is an essential ingredient in ras el hanout and ‘gahwa’ is served as unique, cardamom-based coffee. In India it’s added to tea and chai blends. Native to India, Nepal and South-East Asia, the health benefits of cardamom have made it a valuable spice for traditional medicines and modern herbal medicine.

  • Cardamom Infusions – Pop a couple of pods in your teapot with tea leaves for an aromatic brew. Or try ¼ teaspoon of ground cardamom in your coffee plunger for a taste of the exotic Middle Eastern flavour
