Gomasio - Japanese Sesame Salt

A traditional Japanese macrobiotic seasoning of toasted sesame seeds ground with coarse salt. Especially delicious over rice and vegetables.

 

Ingredients

2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon sea salt

 

Method

Toast the sesame seeds, stirring over medium heat until light golden-brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the salt and cook, stirring, for about 30 seconds. Transfer to a plate or paper towel and cool completely. Pulse in a spice grinder.
